University of Brighton
The Universities of Brighton and Sussex are co-curating a Creative Campus Initiative programme, further strengthening and extending collaborative links between the two institutions. The programme includes five joint projects, a third of the whole programme, drawn across the arts, humanities and sciences, which will be delivered both on campus and online, and in city centre locations in conjunction with other creative partners. Sarah Atkinson and Marley Cole's 3D sonic landscape recreates the stadium soundscape, which will be triggered by visitor movement in self-contained installation. Sarah and Marley will be working with 2012 athletes as they train for the events. To be exhibited in July in Hastings and Brighton. More info www.uch.ac.uk

Malcolm Mcinnes, Jyri Kermik and Tom Ainsworth lead a research project into Para sportswear and equipment research project with Fashion, Textiles, 3D Design, Materials Practice and Sustainable Design with architecture and design staff and students and The Crew Club as a community partner. The research culminates in an exhibition and online presentation.
Endeavour
Where: Eastbourne, Hastings, Brighton (touring schools)
When: May, June, July
Fiona Smith and Lucy Pocknell and Conall Gleeson work with 25 physical education trainee teachers, the all-male dance company Kickstart and all-female dance company Fidget, to produce performance work via residency with Random Dance and musicians. Endeavour will be first performed 22 May at Chelsea School's London 2012 Day.

Mary Agnes Krell and Sue Gollifer and two Brighton and Hove secondary schools will use interactive media to explore and visualise stories and data emerging from the Olympics. Their work will be presented in multiple format, online and in an exhibition.

Wilma de Jong and Tim Brown lead a module across subjects and disciplines including moving image, photography, and radio that will lead to a joint show/exhibition.

George Hardie leads a graphics project that sets out to understanding Olympic measurements through British cultural metaphors: for instance, the 4 x 400m women's relay is run in the time it takes to boil an egg. To be exhibited as a poster campaign and as a pulp-book at CCI events.

Kirk Woolford will make a motion capture film exhibition using university sporting talent. To be exhibited in a city-centre vacant shop.

Student-led research project with marathon runners, with students training for Brighton Marathon. To be presented online and in print format, with exhibition at Jubilee Library in June.
Scanning for Gold
Where: Brighton and Sussex Medical School, University of Sussex

Gordon Kay and David Mellor lead a project combining clinical imaging scans of Olympic hopefuls training at the renowned Chelsea School of sports science, combined with action and portrait images for a striking visual arts exhibition and community engagement launch event. This project shows how anatomy and sports science can help us understand more about what makes a high-performance athlete deliver results. Also to be presented as a regional tour visiting the University of Brighton's Chelsea School and Jubilee Library, Brighton, and the new University of Brighton sports centre at Falmer.

Mike Blow's art installation contains sports objects that create sound when they are touched. To be exhibited in various city art galleries and Jubilee Library.
The Musical 100 metres

Jess Moriarty is compiling a creative writing anthology with university creative writing groups and older people, with intergenerational workshops, and themed strands such as 100 metres for flash fiction and the long jump for experimental work. There will be bronze, silver and gold prizes for the best entries and the best 100 will be published as an anthology.
Unlocking Spaces
Where: Ditchling Rise

Katrin Bohn, Vaida Morkunaite and Kirsty Sutherland map 'City Green Spaces' in the Ditchling Rise area of Brighton and Hove that are available for recreation and cultivation by the public, and public art and site specific installations. To be presented as community workshops and as an on-site interactive exhibition on 18 July as part of 'Big Lunch' day.
