University of Kent
The University of Kent has developed an ambitious programme of commissioning, curriculum engagement and community endeavour across the campuses of Medway and Canterbury. The programme, entitled Slipstream, has worked to showcase the best of university's creative talent and connect staff and students with the wider cultural framework of the South East. In doing so, the university is forging new partnerships with regional agencies and helping to animate local 2012 activity. The CCI programme is supporting the steady establishment of a wider programme of creative exchange that crosses sport, the arts and creative learning. Spectators

Spectators is a film of a film that was screened to the horses the artist followed during training in an indoor arena. Working with Kent-based equestrian, Tom Dymond, Chris Yates captured the discipline, repetition and intimacy of the lunging circle. The footage was projected into the arena and the subjects briefly became observers as they responded to footage of themselves. Power, consent, memory, recognition, are all suggested in the resulting work; a layered observation of watching and being watched.
